REFUND & RETURN POLICY

Effective Date: Warranty coverage begins from the Date of Invoice

1. POLICY OVERVIEW

Thrifty Engines sells used, pre-owned automotive components, including engines, transmissions, and related auto parts.

Due to the nature of these products:

  • All refunds and returns are strictly conditional and require prior approval
  • Placing an order confirms that the customer has read, understood, and agreed to this policy
  • No exceptions will be made outside these rules

2. RETURN AUTHORIZATION (MANDATORY)

  • All returns require prior approval from Thrifty Engines
  • Returns without authorization will be refused

3. ELIGIBLE RETURNS

Returns may be approved only in the following cases:

  • Incorrect product shipped by Thrifty Engines
  • Damage during transit, reported within 48 hours of delivery
  • Warranty-approved mechanical failure, as defined in the Warranty Policy

Each request is reviewed individually.Customers may be required to submit photos, videos, or supporting documentation.

4. NON-RETURNABLE ITEMS

The following items cannot be returned or refunded:

  • Products that have been altered, modified, dismantled, or repaired
  • Items returned without original packaging or documentation
  • Orders delayed due to incorrect or incomplete customer-provided information
  • Special-order items or items held with a deposit
  • Electrical or electronic components

5. APPEARANCE & INSPECTION

  • Used engines may show signs of wear such as rust, scratches, discoloration, oil stains, or prior use marks
  • Performance is guaranteed; appearance is not
  • Customers must inspect shipments immediately upon delivery
  • Appearance concerns must be reported within 7 calendar days

Refusing delivery for appearance-related reasons results in:

  • 20% restocking fee
  • Full two-way shipping charges
  • No refund of shipping, handling, or processing fees

6. ORDER CANCELLATIONS

  • Within 24 hours: No fees apply if the order is cancelled within 24 hours of placement
  • After 24 hours: A mandatory 20% restocking fee applies
  • After shipment or preparation:
    • 20% restocking fee
    • Full two-way shipping charges

7. WARRANTY RETURNS & REPLACEMENTS

  • Shipping is covered only for approved warranty claims
  • Replacement units are subject to availability
  • Refusing an approved replacement is considered a voluntary cancellation and results in:
    • 20% restocking fee
    • Applicable shipping charges

8. CUSTOMER ERRORS & VIN / COMPATIBILITY ISSUES

  • Thrifty Engines verifies compatibility using a VIN-based system
  • Customers must provide accurate vehicle information

If incorrect information is provided:

  • Customer pays any price difference
  • Customer pays two-way shipping charges
  • Refusal of replacement incurs a 20% restocking fee

9. CORE RETURNS & DEPOSITS

Certain engines or transmissions require a core deposit.

Core deposits are refunded only if the core is:

  • Returned complete
  • Undamaged
  • Returned within the allowed timeframe

Damaged, incomplete, or late cores will not be refunded.

10. NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSITS

The following deposits are non-refundable under all circumstances:

  • Inventory hold deposits
  • Special-order deposits

11. REFUND PROCESSING

  • Refunds are issued only to the original payment method
  • Processing time: 5–7 business days after approval
  • Banks or card issuers may take an additional 5–10 business days
  • Thrifty Engines is not responsible for banking delays

12. SHIPPING & TRANSACTION FEES

  • Shipping charges are non-refundable unless the return is due to an error by Thrifty Engines
  • Return shipping instructions must be followed exactly
  • All transaction, processing, and payment fees are final and non-refundable unless the company is at fault

13. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Thrifty Engines is not responsible for:

  • Labor or installation/removal charges
  • Towing or transportation costs
  • Rental vehicles
  • Downtime, lost income, or inconvenience

Warning: Liability is limited to the original purchase price of the product, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

14. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES

Customers are responsible for:

  • Verifying vehicle compatibility before purchase
  • Providing accurate vehicle information
  • Retaining installation and diagnostic documentation
  • Reporting issues within stated timelines

Failure to comply may result in denial of return or refund.
